Help Rabid Stay in Homewood!

My dearest Rabidians, We are currently in the final stages of securing the new location for Rabid Public House and I would like to give you an update.
After much wailing and gnashing of teeth, we were able to secure our financing, finalize our plans and submitted a proposal to the Village of Homewood for the building. Huzzah, we can get building, right? Nope. The next step was for the Village to post a solicitation for additional proposals, and while we had hoped none would be submitted, two others came in just under the wire. #1 and #2 The Board of Trustees will now have to evaluate the proposals and determine the outcome. Yikes, right?
This moment feels like standing on the edge of a cliff, the very precipice where success and failure meet, tangled together in a breathless embrace. Every bold decision, sleepless night and silent hope has led us to this point. We’ve put our all into this. Our blood, sweat and tears for a decade. And there is no guarantee which way things will fall. We’re artists and we know art is ephemeral, but ooof!
There is a lot we don’t know today, but we know we’re not done making mythical refreshments and being a haven of joy for you beautiful weird ones, and we know we can't do it alone.
You can help! The Homewood Village Board will be meeting on 4/22 at 7PM at 2020 Chestnut Road and you can show your support for us in several ways:
- Be a body! Attend the meeting. Wear Rabid gear or creative attire and fill the room with your presence and positive vibes.
- Make a statement! Each Homewood Village Board Meeting has a time set aside for public comments. You do not need to be a resident, nor do you need to be an accomplished public speaker. Comments are two minutes or less, and the most compelling ones are from the heart.
- Write an email! You can submit a comment via email to comments@homewoodil.gov before 4PM on 4/22 and it will be distributed to all members of the Board of Trustees, the Mayor, and all Village Staff.
This isn’t a comfortable place. It’s raw, emotional and often lonely. But it has also been where transformation happens. The forge where our resilience has been tempered. The quandary that has drawn our close-knit community even tighter.
We are so proud of the journey we have had up to today and so damned lucky to have had it.
With love,
LL and BF
I sent in an email on behalf of Edward and myself. Rooting for ya'll so hard. Let me know if you'd like me to send a copy as well. I used the one one on your contact page but it bounced back.
I can say without a doubt I'd come to Homewood to visit the new Rabid location just like the current one. Nothing in either of those proposals is unique or interesting that would make me go to Homewood as a non resident
